Before & After Waterfall Dresser into a Book Shelf

Found this old Waterfall Dresser sitting outside at a thrift store, and by the looks of it, it had been their a long time.  It had severe water damage and was ready for the scrap heap.  I purchased the dresser thinking the handles would be worth the purchase price.  When I got it back to the shop at You Never Know.  I started taking it apart, at first I was just going to take the hardware off and scrap the rest but it was suggested the drawers were in good shape also.  Three of them were in great shape just need sanding the 4th one had really bad water damage.

I was going to make little drawer baskets out of them but thought about a bookshelf.
I am happy with the results.

I love to Re purpose old Furniture  and make it useful again.  I used the Miss Lillian's Chock Paint Colors of Irish Cream and Mayan Turquoise and sealed it with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat Satin Finish.

The 7 from One Challenge at tCP

Please Join Jeanet and the rest of tCP for the challenge

The way I see it the Creative Pixel is to be more than just another digital scrapbooking site. It is a place to gather all of our digital adventures. Scrapbooking, art, photographing, art journaling etc. Perhaps someone even want to start a digital smash book or do hybrid stuff. Personally I’m a fan. No more running around from one site to another to get all needs met. One site, endless opportunities.

Therefore I’m giving you a challenge which will stretch your creativity in any direction you choose. Each week  I will give you a prompt – your challenge is to take that particular word and use it for up to 7 different creative outbursts. The word prompt will be your red thread throughout the week and you can do all 7 different categories or simply just do a couple if that’s what you feel like. Creativity shouldn’t be pushed but it certainly shall be encouraged so I encourage you all to at least give a category that’s not within your typical comfort zone a try.

You will have all week to finish up to seven of the following things; Photography, doodling, art journaling, memory keeping (traditional layouts), atc, quote and a lyric inspired. Feel free to combine them. Your photo with your quote, your doodle with your art journaling. Any combination that you can think of.

Now the fine lines might still be a bit blurry about this challenge but I figured we might as well get it started so here’s your first word prompt:

BEGINNING

Now start creating – and link your results in this thread so we can all steal – sorry – be inspired. And remember “Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing” so there’s no right or wrong in this challenge. It is simply to get you creating.

The Design Process: Hanging Clothes Line

I have been working on a new design this week the hanging clothes line.  It is very time consuming but so much fun to design.  I have to get the pictures and clothes line to appear hanging on the page.  I just love the concept, it is taking awhile to get the effect right but hopefully I will have some of these done soon.  Drop Shadows are one of the most important items when creating elements and when you create your layouts, without them pages would look so bland.  I am making them for a different spin on the Groupies concept.  These will be another part of the Heritage Charm Collection, which  to date is my favorite collection I have made.
